Hi I'm Laura!
Welcome to Laura Daniels Pet Portraits. I'm Laura a 41 year old professional artist based in Teesside, North East England. I live with my amazing 10 year old son, hubby and our incredible black Labrador, Buddy. I've loved art forever and spent most of my childhood drawing pictures for my family, especially my Nanna; she was a huge fan.
I studied art until I was 24, when I graduated with a Fine Art Degree from Northumbria University in 2006. Since then, I've spent the majority my professional career as a Secondary Art and Technology Teacher. I've lost count how many students I've taught over the years, but it was always an honour to make a difference. Even though I adored teaching, it didn't provide me the time to pursue my ambition of becoming a full-time artist! I therefore decided to close that chapter of my life to spend more time with my family and at my drawing table! Last year, after almost 18 years, I rediscovered my own art and a pencil has pretty much been in my hand ever since!

I looked into realism after seeing some incredibly talented artists drawing animals online. I was fascinated by the process and was inspired to give it a try. I studied human portraiture back in the day, but never really in a realistic style. So I purchased a big set of coloured pencils and gave it a go. I'll always remember my first drawing, it was a hares eye (I love drawing eyes!) and instantly fell in love with the process of colour pencil drawing. Within days, friends and family members were asking me to draw their pets, which then became the foundations of Laura Daniels Pet Portraits!
I feel so incredibly lucky to be given this opportunity, to follow my life long dream of becoming a full-time artist. I always take pride in my attention to detail and aim to capture the features that make your pet unique. My main mission is to provide you with a timeless keepsake to treasure that celebrates the joy your pet brings to your life. To forever be present and a part of your family. If you're interested in a commission, all you need to do, is join my waiting list and I'll be in touch once my diary re-opens.
Thanks for reading, Laura x
