Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions for Laura Daniels Pet Portraits Commissions

By placing an order for a custom pet portrait, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before proceeding with your order.

1. Payment Terms

Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the total quoted price is required upfront to confirm your commission. This secures your place in the queue.

Final Payment: The remaining 75% of the commission fee, plus any other applicable postage, delivery and additional costs, will be due after the artwork is completed and approved by you. Once the final payment is made and received, the portrait will be shipped.

No Refund Policy: As the deposit is non-refundable, there are no refunds once the order has been placed and the deposit is paid. Once the deposit is paid, I will give you an estimate date (usually within 6 weeks) I aim to start and complete your drawing.

2. Photograph Requirements

I work directly from photographs you provide. For the best results, the photos must be of high quality, clear, and as detailed as possible. Photos at eye level in natural light usually work best. Please do not crop or provide screenshots of original photos as this reduces the quality of the image and detailed features of the pet.

If the photographs do not meet the necessary quality standards, I reserve the right to refuse the commission as I will not be able to add the personalised detail of your pet. If this happens, I will notify you and work with you to obtain suitable reference material before proceeding.

3. Completion and Delivery Timeline

Completion Window: I always aim to complete the commission within a six week window from the date the deposit is received.

Delivery Time: While I will do my best to complete the artwork within this time frame, I do not guarantee the exact delivery date. The shipping process is outside my control, and delivery times may vary.

Special Date Requests: If you need the portrait completed by a specific date (e.g., for a birthday or special occasion), please inform me at the time of booking. I will try my absolute best to accommodate your request, but it is not guaranteed.

4. Approval Process

Upon completion of the portrait, you will be given the opportunity to review the final piece before the remaining payment is made. Minor adjustments can be requested at this stage, but due to the nature of the medium (coloured pencil) it is not always possible.

Once you approve the artwork, the final payment will be required before shipping.

5. Cancellation and Adjustments

No Cancellations: Once the deposit is paid and the commission is confirmed, there is no option to cancel the order. If I do receive full payment within 30 days of the completion date, I will assume you no longer wat the commission and it will be cancelled.

Adjustments: Adjustments may be requested, but I cannot guarantee that changes can be made after work has commenced. The possibility and scope of adjustments will depend on the stage of the artwork.

6. Right to Cancel

I reserve the right to cancel a commission at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to personal circumstances, inability to complete the work to the required standard, or issues with reference materials (e.g., low-quality photographs). If I cancel the commission, you will receive a full refund of any payments made, including the deposit.

No further compensation or claims will be accepted beyond the full refund of payments.

7. Artist’s Rights and Sharing

I reserve the right to share and display the completed artwork, including on social media, my website, or other promotional materials, unless you specifically request otherwise.

If you would prefer that your artwork not be shared publicly, or if you would like me to wait for a specific period before sharing (e.g., if the portrait is a gift), please inform me at the time of the order.

8. Postage and Delivery

Postage and delivery costs will be calculated based on your location and will be added to the final payment.

I will ensure the artwork is packaged securely, but I am not responsible for any damages that occur during shipping.

9. Contact and Communication

Please provide all necessary details when placing your order, including the size of the portrait and any special requests. All portraits will be of the pets face and neck, unless requested otherwise. Full body work will take mush more time and will come at an extra cost.

I will keep you updated on the progress of the portrait and will notify you when the artwork is completed and ready for review.

10. Legal Ownership

Upon final payment, you will receive the physical artwork, and it will be yours to display or gift as you wish. However, I retain the copyright and reproduction rights to the artwork, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing.

You may not reproduce the artwork without prior written permission.

11. Privacy Policy

I take your privacy seriously and am committed to protecting your personal information. Any personal details you provide, such as your name, contact information, and shipping address, will be used solely for the purpose of processing and delivering your pet portrait commission. I will never share, sell, or disclose your information to third parties, except as required for shipping or legal purposes. If you choose to communicate via email or social media, your information will be kept secure and confidential. If you request that your commissioned artwork not be shared publicly, I will fully respect your request.

By proceeding with your order, you agree to the above terms and conditions. If you have any questions or specific requests, feel free to contact me before confirming your commission.
